First time
in Korea?
Here are a few helpful things to know before your trip.
Nothing complicated: just the basics to make getting here easier.
Entry & Visa
UK passport holders
UK passport holders do not need a visa to visit Korea for tourism. At the moment, there is a temporary exemption from K-ETA in place, valid until December 2026, so no additional application is required before travel.
Non-UK passport holders
If you are not travelling on a UK passport, visa requirements may differ. You can check whether you need a visa on the official Korean government website.
Arrival
Most international flights arrive at Incheon International Airport (ICN).
From the airport, you can reach Seoul easily by train, taxi, or airport bus. It may differ from your destination, but taking the airport train could be the best way to get to central Seoul.
Getting Around
Please note that Google Maps does NOT work reliably in Korea. While viewing maps is possible, navigation and directions are largely unreliable.
We strongly recommend downloading
Naver Map or Kakao Map before travelling.
Both apps are available in English and provide accurate directions throughout Korea.
Transportation
Public transportation in Korea, especially in Seoul, is excellent, efficient and easy to use.

We recommend purchasing a transport card (T-Money Card) when you arrive. You can buy one at the airport or any convenience store. (Please note that foreign cards, including contactless cards, cannot be used for public transport!)
It works like contactless cards, simply tap it on the reader, and you can top up easily at subway stations or convenience stores.
The subway is highly recommended over buses, as it has clear English signage and announcements.
Taxis are generally much more affordable than in the UK, but some drivers may not speak English fluently, so showing the destination name (both Korean and English, if possible) to the driver is recommended.
SIM Cards
SIM cards, eSIMs, and pocket Wi-Fi are easy to purchase at Incheon Airport upon arrival or online in advance.
Payments
Most places accept international cards. If you need cash, ATMs are widely available, though foreign cards may incur fees depending on your bank.
Weather in May
May in Korea is warm and pleasant, with mild mornings and warmer afternoons.
Light layers are recommended.

The night will weave its magic spell when the one you love is near.
